Donald Macrae

Donald  (1893-1914) was a son of Roderick Macrae and Mary Macleod, 6 Habost.

He served in the 1st Battalion of the Cameron Highlanders in the First World War. 

Donald was killed in action at Poperinghe, Belgium, on the 15th November 1914, aged 21. He was the first casualty of the First World War from the Kershader School district. His name is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.

He was buried at Poperinghe Old Cemetery and his name is commemorated on the Pairc War Memorial and the Lewis Memorial in Stornoway.
