28670: Colin Mackenzie

Colin, son of John Mackenzie (farmer) and Ann from Fodderty, was living in Callanish at the time of his marriage in 1871. In 1872, he transferred to Balallan after Kenneth Mackenzie, the previous constable had resigned. By 1878 he was working for the police force serving Greenock and the family were living at 7 Nile Street, West Greenock in the 1881 Census.

In addition to the three children mentioned, Kenneth was born on 13 September 1871 in Beauly, Colin was born in 1878 in Greenock, followed by James in 1880.
