John, son of Angus Mackay and Catherine Mackenzie, Kenmore was residing in Rhenigidale, Harris when he married Marion Ferguson, Garrabost, Point. It is thought that the family lived in Aline, Kenmore and Kintarvie before moving to Balallan in the 1840s.
