Roderick Alex, son of Malcolm Macleod and Mary Martin, 22 Balallan was a schoolteacher who taught in Back and then in Tarbert, Harris. He married Mary Macdonald, Craigston, Isle of Barra. Roderick became Headmaster in Scarista, Harris and later moved to Inverness where he remained after his retirement.
