John Macleod
John Macleod
John Macleod (1859-1934) was a son of Murdo Macleod and Annabella Smith, 18 Cromore.
On December 1, 1876 he enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve Service Number 6395 and re-enrolled under 12504, 21441 and 639L. John was a fisherman on Banff, Fraserburgh, Inverness, Peterhead and Stornoway registered fishing boats. His record indicates that he was 5 ft 9 in tall with blue eyes, a fair complexion, eyebrows that met in the middle and a crooked little finger on his left hand.
At Fraserburgh, in 1898, he married Ann Kennedy, 4 Cromore. John and Ann settled at Cliff Cottage, Cromore and they had six children.
