Roderick John, son of Roderick and Christina Mackenzie, 54b Balallan was a gunner with the Royal Artillery in the UK and Italy during the Second World War. He was employed on Hydro Electric schemes on the mainland. Roderick died, aged 28 years, as the result of a car accident near Tarbert, Harris.
