58687: Angus Macmillan
Angus (1827-1863) was a son of Angus Macmillan and Isabella Macleod, 10 Old Eishken.
Eishken was cleared in 1835 and the family were removed to 5 Old Steimreway where they lived until the village was cleared in 1857.
In Lochs, in 1852 he married Christina Nicolson, 21 Lemreway. Angus and Christina settled at 27 Lemreway and they had five children.
Angus was widowed in 1860 and on 13 January 1863 he married Margaret Macaulay, 10 Grimshader.
Before the road round Loch Erisort was built in 1928 boats were used in the same way as a car would today. In 1863 on a provisions trip a sudden squall of wind capsized the sailing boat in Stornoway bay drowning Angus and three others.
Following Angus’s death three of his and Christina’s children went to live with their maternal grandparents, Ann Macinnes and Neil Nicolson.
