John, son of John Macsween and Rebecca Maciver, Lochs was residing in Laxay when he married Christine Nicolson, Uig. They moved from 39 Balallan to 13 Arivruach. The family, and his mother Rebecca, emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1852 eventually settling in Bruce County. Two further children were born in Ontario; Christina (1852-) and Margaret (1854-).
