72840: John MacLeod

John MacLeod (Iain Ruadh) was born in about 1850, the eldest child of Murdo MacLeod and Marion MacKay. He spent the early years of his childhood in Borgh Mhor, Harris, before his family returned to Berneray, where they became cottars on 1/2 Ruisgarry (Sandhill).

Little more is known of Iain Ruadh. It is believed that he made his home in either Tain or the Black Isle.
