Christina, known as Christy Ann, was born in 1887, the daughter of fisherman Donald MacAskill and Ann Ferguson of ‘house 2’ Rubha Mor.

At the time of the 1911 census she was working as a domestic servant and staying with her elderly grandmother Ann MacAskill (née MacKillop) at ‘house 1’. Later that year she married widower Malcolm Campbell of Quarry, where they made their home. Together they were to have eight children. In 1924 the family moved to 3 Cheesebay.
