Mary was born in 1819, the daughter of John Campbell and Mary MacLeod of Brusda. Mary continued to live in Brusda with her sisters Christina and Ann following her father’s emigration to Canada. Mary worked as a general servant. Later she married John MacCuish of Boreray, where they lived with their three children.
