Catherine was born in 1835, the daughter of John Morrison and Ann MacAskill of old Borve. By 1854 the family had been removed to become cottars at Ludag instead. Catherine became a domestic servant, marrying Neil MacDonald from Rodel, which is presumably where they made their home.
