91151: Catherine Murray

Catherine (1821-1852) was the daughter of Murdo Murray and Gormelia Campbell; it is not known where the family were living at the time of her birth. Her father had links to Galson, but her mother’s origins are less certain.  

In 1830 the family obtained 2 Old North Tolsta.

Catherine married Murdo Campbell, of 26 Old North Tolsta, and the couple settled as cottars at 26 Old South Tolsta.

In 1841 they had their first child and emigrated to the Eastern Townships of Quebec; the order of these events is unclear. In total the couple had six children: a boy and five girls.

After Catherine’s death her parents obtained 7 North Tolsta and her widower remarried twice; he had a son with his second wife and three sons with his third wife.
