Mary (born 1895) was the daughter of John Smith and Elizabeth Macleod of 24 North Tolsta.

Mary married John Macleod, of 20 North Tolsta. The couple settled at 24 North Tolsta, which passed to John from her parents.

The couple had two children: a boy and a girl.

The family moved to Stornoway and 24 North Tolsta passed to Mary's cousin Donald Smith, of 24b North Tolsta. The croft house at 24 was re-named Sandy Bay at this point.
