92237: Donald Murray

Donald (born 1836) was the son of Kenneth Murray and Margaret Campbell, of 15 Old South Tolsta.

In 1851, during the croft relottings, the family obtained 27 North Tolsta.

Donald married Christina Macdonald, of 37 North Tolsta, and the couple settled at 27 North Tolsta. At some point 27 North Tolsta passed to Donald.

The couple’s first two children, both boys, died from fever, in the early 1860s, while they were still infants.

The couple then had two girls in 1864 and 1866.

They then had a further three sons in 1869, 1871 and 1874. Sadly all of these boys also died in infancy from fever: two died in 1874 and one in 1876.

The couple went on to have a further two girls: in 1876 and 1879. In total they had nine children: five boys and four girls.

In 1881 Donald’s step mother died.

In 1884, Donald and his wife and daughters emigrated to Marston, Quebec.

27 North Tolsta passed to Donald’s brother, Murdo.  

In 1895 Donald’s daughter, Kenina, died tragically in Canada.
