In 1918 the keel was laid down as the SS War Oriole a Cargo Steamship built by the Sunderland Shipbuilding Co Ltd, Sunderland in 1919 for the Shipping Controller. She was sold to the Cairn Shipping Line and renamed SS Cairngowan III. Sold again in 1935 to the Bright Navigation Co Ltd, London and renamed SS Bright Comet. In 1935 she was sold to Wan H. C, and renamed SS Chi Sing.
On October 12, 1944 she ship was sunk in an air raid
