21 Old South Tolsta was a new croft in 1830, its first occupants were Evander Maciver and family. The croft passed to Evander’s son Donald.

Donald Maciver married Margaret Smith and the couple had six children at 21 Old South Tolsta. In the 1851 croft relottings Donald obtained 23 North Tolsta.
