The first tenant of 3 & 4 Tong was Malcolm Macleod, of Aird Tong. In 1850 the family exchanged crofts with John Campbell at 14 Tong.

3 & 4 Tong was then split. 3 Tong went to John Campbell's daughter, Catherine Campbell, who was by then the widow of Neil Macdonald, of 9 Tong.

4 Tong went to Donald Macdonald, of Coll.
