12 Tolastadh bho Thuath

12 North Tolsta was a new croft in 1851 and the first tenant was John Murray who moved to 23 Newmarket in 1853.

The croft then passed to  John Macdonald who passed 12 North Tolsta to his youngest son, John. He passed the croft to his eldest son, John who did not live at the croft. His mother continued living there as did his sister and her family; but in 1951 they moved to Fernlea

John rented out 12 North Tolsta in 1951 and in 1959 he sold it, for approximately £350, to Alexander Murray.

On the 20th of March 1959 Alexander Murray and family moved into 12 North Tolsta. Alexander built an extension to house in 1968, it housed a new kitchen and bathroom. In due course the croft passed to his fourth son and the house passed to his children.

The house was feued off from the 4 acre croft in the early 1990s.

Cottars

Roderick Maciver was a cottar at 12 North Tolsta, in 1857 he obtained 59 North Tolsta.


John Macleod was also a cottars at 12 North Tolsta. The house passed to his son-in-law, Roderick, Macleod.

This house was demolished.
