103907: 34 North Tolsta
34 Tolastadh bho Thuath
34 North Tolsta, was a new croft in 1851. John Morrison, 7 Old South Tolsta was the first tenant and gave up the croft to become a cottar in North Tolsta in 1853.
The next tenant was Murdo Macleod from 7 Old North Tolsta and two of his children, Marion and Donald, became cottars at 34 North Tolsta in two separate cottar houses. The croft at 34 North Tolsta eventually passed to his youngest son, Angus.
Angus passed 34 North Tolsta to his eldest son, Murdo. His daughter, Margaret and her family were cotters on the croft during the duration of the Second World War.
Murdo Macleod passed 34 North Tolsta to his daughter, Margaret Ann.
Cottars
Donald Macleod married Mary Macleod and the couple became cottars at 34 North Tolsta. In due course, the cottars house passed to their eldest son, William.
The ruins of this house can still be seen.
Marion Macleod married Murdo Campbell and the couple became cottars at 34 North Tolsta. It seems likely that the cottars house passed to their unmarried daughter, Christina.
