51 Tolastadh bho Thuath;

51 North Tolsta was officially a newly lotted croft in 1854 but it was occupied from 1851. The first occupants were Murdo Macqueen, Christina Macrae and their children: John, Henrietta, Mary, Margaret and James. The family emigrated in 1853.

51 North Tolsta passed to Murdo Macdonald, Ann Murray and their children: Ann, John and Donald. The family had peviously been living at 1 Old North Tolsta. The couple had a further four children at 51 North Tolsta: Murdo, John, Catherine and Donald. In due course 51 North Tolsta passed to Murdo.

Murdo Macdonald married Effie Finlayson and the couple had ten children: Christina, Catherine, Mary, Murdo, William, Angus, Kenneth, Annie, Annie and Effie. Their daughter, Catherine and their son, William became at cottars at 51 North Tolsta and in due course 51 North Tolsta passed to their son, Kenneth.

Kenneth Macdonald married Mary Murray and the couple had seven children: four girls and three boys. In due course 51 North Tolsta passed to their youngest son: John.

John Macdonald married, a woman from Tolsta, and the couple had four children: three girls and a boy. The crofthouse was feued off from the croft and sold, it is on this website as 51 North Tolsta (Feu).

Cottars

William Macdonald and Henrietta Macdonald became cottars at 51 North Tolsta in a house sometimes referred to at 51b. They had eight children: six girls and two boys. In due course the house passed to their grandson as Gil na Airdhe.

Catherine Macdonald married Angus Campbell and the couple settled as cottars at 51 North Tolsta in a house sometimes known as 51c. The couple had seven children: Margaret, Murdo, Mary, Jessie, Angus, Ann and Isabella. In due course the cottars house passed to their son, Angus.

Angus Campbell married Isabella Maciver and the couple had five children: four girls and a boy. After she was widowed Isabella moved her family to Cragro, North Tolsta. The cottars house was later demolished.
