6 Old North Tolsta came into existence when 5/6 Old North Tolsta was split in 1835. The first occupants were Roderick Maciver and Ann Morrison. The couple had three children: Ann, John, and Murdo. In 1841 the family emigrated to Canada and settled in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. 6 Old North Tolsta passed to his brother-in-law, Donald Macdonald.
Donald Macdonald of 1 Old North Tolsta, was married to Isabella Maciver of 20 Old North Tolsta. The couple already had four children: Donald, Christina, Ann and Catherine. Once settled at 6 Old North Tolsta the couple had a further three children: Donald, Margaret and John. In 1853, when Old North Tolsta was de-crofted to make Tolsta Farm, the family obtained 37 North Tolsta.
