38 Tolastadh bho Thuath

38 North Tolsta was a newly lotted croft in 1851; the first tenant was Donald Macdonald (1816-1906) and after his children had died of typhus, the croft house was burnt to the ground and a new croft house was built outside of the village dyke wall. Stones from the causeway in the recently drained Loch Osavat were used to construct the front of the house.

In 1875, 38 North Tolsta passed to their eldest son: Alexander  and he passed the croft his son in law, Donald Macdonald (1865-1936).

Donald passed 38 North Tolsta to his son, Alexander and he passed the croft to his eldest son.

Cottars

Kenneth Maciver and his wife Annie Macdonald were cottars at 38 North Tolsta and their daughter, Joan Macdonald and her husband Murdo Smith built a new house closer to the road  in the 1950s. When their daughter married this house was extended and their daughter settled there in a section called Seaway. After Joan and Murdo died the entire house was renamed Seaway.
