55639: 28 Tolsta Chaolais
28 Tolstadh a Chaolais
The first tenant of this croft was Donald Macphail (born 1813) Domhnall Chalum Ruaidh who emigrated to Canada with his family and settled at Bruce County, Ontario.
The croft appears to have lain vacant for a number off years before Malcolm Mackay, later of 16a Tolsta Chaolais may have lived here for a time until his marriage.
The next tenant was Norman Macleod (1822-1902) Tormod an Og from 11 Tolsta Chaolais. He passed 28 Tolsta Chaolais to his unmarried daughter, Janet Macleod (1874-1951) Seonaid Thormoid An Oig.
Janet passed the croft to her nephew, Norman Morrison Tormod Mhurchaidh Iain, 12 Upper Carloway and he passed 28 Tolsta Chaolais to his brother, John Morrison Iain Mhurchaidh Iain, 6b Tolsta Chaolais.
The croft was eventually sold.
