106215: Old South Galson, Lewis

Old South Galson is the name used on this website for the settlement situated at South Galson Tack in the early 19th century. It is based on the details of the 13 subtenants from the 1841 census, and the earlier 1819 list which does not give house numbers. They were all cleared from the land before 1848; most of them were resettled in the new township of New Galson.

In 1924 the land was again converted into crofts. The new settlement is dealt with separately on this website under the name of South Galson.
