Donald (1886-1915) was the eldest son of Norman Maciver and Mary Mackenzie, 2 Upper Carloway. He served in the Cameron Highlanders in the First World War under Service Number 3/5611. Donald was sent to the front in October 1914 and died at La Bassee. He is buried in Bethune Town Cemetery and his name is commemorated on Carloway War Memorial, Lewis War Memorial Stornoway and Loyal Lewis Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
