Hannah MacLeod was born in 1913, the eldest daughter of Donald MacLeod and Marion MacAskill of 4 Borve, Berneray. She attended Berneray School between 1920 and 1927.
Hannah married Robert MacAskill of 10 Bornish in South Uist, where they made their home with their daughter.
4 Borve was passed to Hannah following her parents’ death.
