105412: Archibald Morrison
Archibald Morrison, born about 1770, was a blacksmith known as Gilleasbuig Gobha. He lived at Pol an Òir at a site now known as Tobhta Ghilleasbuig Ghobha. In 1818 he paid annual rent £5.10s for his plot, rising to £5.17.6 by 1830. Archibald’s wife was Mary MacAskill, with whom he had at least five children.
Two local landmarks, now known as Bogha an Tailleir and Sgeir an Tailleir, were previously named for Archibald: Gillespie’s Rock and Gillespie’s Skerry.
