112631: James Carter Tiltman

James Carter Tiltman (1843-1921) was born in Turnchapel, Plympton St Mary. He worked as a seaman, later a coastguard.

In 1864 James married Ann MacKillop at Greenock. Together they were to have 17 children, moving to various locations around the coast; in 1881 they were living at East Stonehouse, Devon and in 1891 at Kirkwall and St Ola, Orkney.

James was widowed in 1918.
