John (died 1948) was the son of Donald Macleod and Margaret Morrison.  The family lived at 2 New Street, Back.

He served during the Second World War and came through unscathed. He then married a woman who had been in the Womens Royal Naval Service. The couple had two daughters. The family lived at 43 Back.

While working at S A Newall & Sons Ltd he was caught in the wire covered rollers in the Carding Flat and lost a hand. He died four days later in Lewis Hospital. These events were reported in the Stornoway Gazette on the 6th of March 1948.
