John (1813-1877) was the son of Alexander Mackenzie and Ann Beaton. By 1833 the family were settled at 21 Old Back.
John married Mary Macleod of 11 Old Back. They had no children and John was widowed around 1840.
John went on to marry Ann Macdonald of 24 Old Back. In 1858 the family obtained 51 Back. The couple had eight children.
