Iain Mhurchaidh Dhomhnaill

John (1825-1902) was the son of Murdo Macdonald and Isabella Mackenzie. By 1833 the family were settled at 6 Old Back.

In 1851, during the croft re-lotting, the family obtained 29/30 Back. After his father's death in around 1856 his mother divided the croft and he lived with her on the piece known as 29 Back.

He married Mary Smith of 2 Laxdale Lane. The couple settled at 29 Back and they had eight children only three of whom survived. The croft at 29 Back passe to John.
