117479: Alexander MacLeod

Alasdair Ruairidh Alasdair

Alexander MacLeod was the son of Roderick MacLeod. He was a tenant in Borve. In 1711 he was sailing to Votersay with his neighbour Morris Morrison when they discovered a dead whale which they hoped to tow back to Berneray. This event later played a role in the disputed ownership of the island of Grianam and its surrounds.
