Ruaraidh Ailein
Roderick (1809-1893) was the son of Allan Mackenzie and Margaret Macleod. By 1833 the family had obtained 19 Old Back.
Roderick married Mary Maciver of 15 Old Coll. In 1844 the family obtained 42 Old Coll and in 1851, during the croft re-lotting he obtained 31 Coll. Roderick and Mary had five children.
On the 8th of June 1883 he gave evidence to the Napier Commission in Stornoway. A transcript of his evidence can be read at the napier-outerhebrides blogspot.
Roderick died of old age, aged 84.
