Donald (born 1883) was the son of John Maclean and Mary Mackinnon of 6 Back. He was one of the Gress Raiders.

He married Johanna Stewart of 35 Coll and took part in the ballot for Gress crofts and obtained 25 Gress as a newly lotted croft, in 1922. He moved to Gress prior to the official lotting and was moved by the Board of Agriculture to the banks of Gress River in Back and provided with a temporary corrugated dwelling. When he moved to 25 Gress he dismantled this dwelling and rebuilt it on the croft.
