118626: John Smith

John (1796-1874) was the son of Malcolm Smith and Isabella Maclennan; both of his parents were initially from Lochs, but it is not clear where the family were living at the time of his birth.

By 1820 the family were living at 5 Buanish.

In 1826 the family moved to 8 Tong and lived with his uncle.

John married Isabella Macleod, of 6 Aird Tong, and they settled at 12 Old Gearraidh Ghuirm. They had their first child there.

In 1834 the couple obtained 18 Aird Tong and settled there. It is not clear where their second child was born as she was born the year of the move, but their third and fouth child were born there. The couple had a boy and three girls.

In 1837 his parents obtained 2 Tong.

In due course 18 Aird Tong passed to their widowed daughter Ann.
