Mary Helen (1842-1918) was a daughter of the Reverend Donald MacVean and Susan Maclean, Isle of Iona. The family endured terrible living conditions to such an extent that the school teacher offered them accommodation.
At Kimore and Kilbride Church, Oban, in 1880, she married the Reverend Alexander Macleod, Strontian and formerly of 2 Kershader. Mary Helen and Alexander settled at Strontian.
Mary Helen was widowed in 1903 and they are both buried in Pettyfuir Cemetery, Oban.
