Donald John Mackay (1945-2023) was the son of Nellie Mackay of 2 Keose Glebe where Donald John spent his early years.  Most of his childhood years were spent at 6 Parkview Terrace, Balallan.

In Glasgow, in 1970, he married Ishbel Campbell from Aird, Point. They spent of their married lives living at Knock, Point and raising their own family but later moved to Tong.
