Donald (1891-1920) was a son of Donald Macrae and Catherine Macleod, 56 Leurbost.
On 28 November 1910 he enrolled in Royal Naval Reserve under Service Number A3116. His record indicated that he was 5ft 8in tall with brown eyes, a fresh complexion and faint scars on his cheek and by left side of mouth. Donald was a fisherman on Annie Smith SY1230 and the BNF136 and the BNF 950. He served as a Petty Office in the First World War at HMS Pembroke, HMS Vivid, HMS Devonport and aboard HMS Aurora and HMS Mars. Donald also served on three other ships which are unreadable on his recorad.
He was de-mobilised on 4 July 1919 and his service was extended until his untimely death of a ruptured Duodenal Ulcer.
