Torcull Chaluim Chaluim
Torquil (1903-1986) was the eldest son of Malcolm Macleod and Effie Macinnes, 16b Laxay.
In 1921, Torquil, at the age of 18, emigrated to Patagonia where he was engaged to work for José Menendez on one of his farms. He returned to Lewis in 1935 after spending 14 years in South America.
At Laxay, in 1936, he married Margaret Macleod, 2 Laxay. Torquiland Margaret settled on the family croft of 16b Laxay and they had five children.
