29183: John Macmillan

John (1793-1868) was the son of Malcolm Macmillan and Christina  Maciver,  Kirkibost.  When that village was cleared in 1823 he moved, as many of the villagers did, to Shulishader in Point and settled at 12 Shulishader.

He married Catherine Macdonald from Gisla. They had no family of their own and, according to tradition, his wife taunted him so mercilessly that he slept with their servant and they had a son whom he called  Benjamin Benoni, mac mo dhoileas. He was raised by John and his wife but the couple had no children together.
