Allan Donald (1886-1950) was a son of John Macmillan and Isabella Macmillan, 12 Kershader. He was a Head Teacher in Glasgow and lived at Castleview, Glasgow Road, Braehead, Glasgow.
On 6th December 1915, he enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve under Service Number A8785. His record indicates that he was 5ft 11in tall with black hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion. He served in the Royal Navy in the First World War and was based at HMS Defiance, HMS Pembroke, HMS Vivid and aboard HMS Alaunia. He was promoted and transferred to the Naval Barrack at Chatham as Naval Schoolmaster.
