John (born c1823) was a son of Donald Macleod and Margaret Macleod, Erista. The family later moved to 39 Cliff.
At Uig, in 1857, he married Margaret Smith, 29 Valtos. John and Margaret lived at 29 Valtos and they had four children.
John's sister, Mary's husband John Smith and John each had a 1/2 share of 29 Valtos
