Mary (born 1856) was a daughter of Malcolm Macleod and Margaret Smith, 64 Balallan. The family moved to 2 Habost and Mary later moved to Glasgow.

At Govan, in 1887, she married John Scott, 15 Simpson Street, Glasgow.

Mary was widowed c1890 and she returned to Lewis with her son, John.  A daughter, Mary, was born in Habost on 9 August 1890.

In 1891 the family are living at  23 Newton Street, Stornoway.
