66597: John Buchanan
Although it is not verified it's more than likely that John Buchanan (1736-1817) is the father of Donald Buchanan who was a tenant in Kirkibost.
In the 1766 rental entries for Kirkibost he is probably the John Maccoilviceon – the only John mentioned, apart from a John Taylor.
He was a witness for the defender at the first hearing of the Lewis/Harris boundary dispute where he stated that he moved to Kirkibost when he was a year old (c1736) and was a tenant since 1760.
John was married with a family.
