Malcolm (born 1842) was a son of John Macphail and Effie Macdonald, 7 Knock Carloway.

He married  Marion Macleod, 8 Kirvick. Malcolm and Marion settled at 15 Knock Carloway and they had ten children.

Malcolm also became the tenant of 7 Knock Carloway.
