72825: Angus Mackay
Aonghas Nèill Iain
Angus (born 1855) was a son of Neil Mackay and Ann Macleod, 14 Crowlista. He assumed tenancy of 7 Crowlista from his unmarried aunts.
In Uig, in 1885, he married Catherine Macaulay, 17 Crowlista. Angus and Catherine settled at 7 Crowlist and they raised eight children (including three sons who became ministers).
Angus was known as “boss” because he was a foreman of stonemasons, most notably he supervised the building of the Crowlista township boundary wall, famously built in part by women.
