91034: Murdo Morrison

Murdo (1835-1920) was the son of Donald Morrison and Mary Macleod, of 11 Old South Tolsta.

In 1842 the family lost the croft and became cottars in Old South Tolsta.

In 1851 Murdo’s father obtained 5 North Tolsta and the family settled there.

Murdo married twice. His first marriage was to Catherine Macdonald, of 37 North Tolsta. The couple settled at 5 North Tolsta and had seven children.

Murdo suffered a series of bereavements, firstly he was  widowed, in 1881, and then three of his children died: Christina died, in 1887, at 19 years old, Catherine died, in 1893, at 21 years old and John died in 1901 at 21 years old.

His second marriage was to Christina Murray of 29 North Tolsta, they also settled at 5 North Tolsta, but they had no children together.
