92447: Annie Campbell

Annie (1909-1978) was the daughter of Angus Campbell and Henrietta Matheson, of 44 North Tolsta.

Annie married Murdo Morrison, of 31 North Tolsta, and the couple settled at 31 North Tolsta. They had seven children: five girls and two boys. Murdo’s cousin, from Back, also lived with the family.

In 1947 a fire destoyed their house. Murdo smashed a window and jumped out with baby John, and Annie and their daughters followed; Annie was injured. The fire was out of control by the time the fire brigade arrived and only the scullery and barn were saved; all furniture and clothing was lost. The family stayed at 34 North Tolsta for the remainder of the night. This was all reported in The Stornoway News on the 10th of October 1947.  

In due course 31 North Tolsta passed to their younger son.
