93377: Christina Murray

Christina (1824-1904) was the daughter of Angus Murray. It is not clear where the family were living at the time of her birth; the earliest record of them in Old Glen Tolsta is found in rental details from 1830.

In 1842 all the residents of Old Glen Tolsta were cleared. Christina’s father returned to Tong, but two of her brothers obtained crofts in Old South Tolsta. It is not clear where Christina settled.

Christina married Donald Macleod, of Aird Tong, but it is not clear where the couple initially settled or where their first two children were born. 

In 1851 the couple settled at 53 North Tolsta, though the croft was not officially lotted until 1857, and went on to have a further six children there. In total they had eight children: six boys and two girls.

In due course 53 North Tolsta passed to their son, Angus.
